How Commissions Work
What is a commission? A commission is a work of art that is custom to you, specially ordered from the artist. This could be an original idea, a portrait, reproducing a photo, etc. This could be physical or digital. Digital commissions come with a print release so you can have the piece printed on your own, to your preferences, and local to you. A commission is different from purchasing a pre-existing painting. If you are interested in buying a work of art that is already made, email Kelli Crockett at kellicrockettart@gmail.com.
Who can order a commission? Anyone! Currently, digital commissions are available world-wide. Physical commissions are currently limited to the United States unless you are willing to pay for international shipping, which can be quite expensive depending on the size and weight of the artwork. These are sold as art objects and permit no copyright licensing to you as the customer for reproduction, unless you have specified that you want a commercial or personal print release in your order. Commercial copyright release forms are required for use of the image in merch, book covers, brand logos, etc.
How do I pay for my commission? Once you have contacted Kelli Crockett and discussed the piece with her, you will be sent a link to the private store on her website where you can pay for the commission. The store is currently only accessible via link to moderate the influx of commissions. This is where you will provide your address for shipment.
How much does shipping cost? Shipping within the US is included with your purchase! International shipping is added on, depending on your location. You can ask the artist for an estimate. Digital commissions require no shipping cost, which is why they are usually a cheaper commission option.
When will I get my commission? Depending on the demand of commissions, your piece will get to you within a month. If you have a specific date (birthday, holiday, etc) then you should discuss the timeframe directly with the artist. Most paintings will take longer than drawings or digital commissions because of drying time between layers. Digital commissions, since they are transported over the internet, arrive much quicker. If the artist is in very high demand at the time you contact her, she may add you to a wait list.
